This is Australia...

Just in time to send off to your overseas relatives for Christmas, they have finally re-released This is Australia by Sasek into the Australian market. Originally written in the 1970s, this volume is a very interesting look at how we were, at least through the eyes of Mr Sasek. Plus his very recognisable illustration style is stunning. You have to see this to believe it. In good children's bookstores (and of course Infancy) right now.

Halloween tomorrow... spooks beware the kids are on the loose!

So I have to admit I'm really not sure about Halloween slowly infiltrating Australia society. I can see the arguments on both sides, I mean sure the kids enjoy dressing up and it's a fun way to display our inner monsters to the world, but it's yet another import from our friends across the water. So I say why not display your inner monster everyday, find me the little boy who doesn't love a few ghouls and goblins.... So in the spirit of things (no pun intended) here are a few halloween inspired finds from your local Infancy store.

1. Glow in the Dark Havaianas $24.95

2. Big Scary Monster Tee from Moppit $34.00

3. Paperplane Tee from Munster $39.95

A taste of something different... Baby Carrot Cakes

Last week on my day off I was cleaning out the pantry and decided the best thing to do to use up some bits and pieces would be to bake some Baby Carrot Cakes. This happens to be every now and again - but I love nothing better than the chance to create something that people will enjoy. For a great recipe to make your own Baby Carrot Cakes visit: http://www.cuisine.com.au/recipe/Baby-carrot-cakes I just swapped the walnuts for pecans and the lemon juice in the icing with orange juice but that is totally a matter of taste , and speaking of taste they did taste delightful and brought smiles to the many who got to share them.

Infancy - opens the door to something different...

Having been keeping this blog updated for a while now I have to admit I find it a tricky part of my job, you see I want to share all the beautiful things we get in store but I worry that it seems like I'm just here trying to sell you things - which is not my intention at all (that's why we have our online store www.infancy.com.au - just kidding!).

As such I wanted to let you know I'm going to be widening the scope of this blog. In the coming weeks I will endeavor to write something new for you everyday (well nearly everyday anyway) and I will tell you a little bit of everything and anything.

I pledge to not only tell you about new products and things happening in store but also to share funny stories, recipes, tips and tricks. I'm also planning on profiling all of our lovely staff for you and then who knows what next. I also want to opening the floor up to you - tell me what you think, what you'd like to talk about, give us your point of view. This could be an interesting experiment, so stay tuned...

Tortellini Cushions - the tastiest cushion around

We at Infancy have long been lovers of the Tortellini Cushion and we are just wild about the latest colour releases. Made with love by local company Studio Skinky (really really local - they're just around the corner from our Newtown store in Erskineville) and they are all designed and made right here in Sydney. As well as being the most supportive breast-feeding cushion around they make great playtime and relaxation cushions for the little ones themselves whilst they are still getting their balance. Drop by a store to wrap your hands around one and you'll see what we mean.
